TOPS Awards Ceremony

The announcement of the winners of the competition occurs during Police Week, which is usually in the third week of November. 

Awards are given for the following categories: Top Division, Top Station, Top Customer Service Station and Top Prisoners in Custody (PIC) Station in the selected Area Command. The Top Stations in each division will also receive recognition. 

In 2024,  two other categories were introduced :Top Marine Outpost Award and the PCOA Leadership Legacy Award. In addition, the Top of TOPS Award was established and will be presented after the completion of the TOPS competition in all five Area Commands.   

Transforming Our Police Service (TOPS) Competition – Area 1

Area 1 is comprised of three divisions—Trelawny, St. James, Westmoreland, and Hanover—which collectively have 38 stations; however, at the time of the competition, there were 34. Services usually provided by the Rio Bueno Station were delivered by the Duncans Stations. Likewise, services previously offered by the Glanville Station were combined with the Meadows of Irwin and the Frome Station with that of Grange Hill (Morgan’s Bridge) Station. The construction of the Hopewell Station in Hanover was completed after the competition. The awards ceremony was held on November 22 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rosehall, St. James.

2023 Winners for Area 1:

Transforming Our Police Service (TOPS) Competition – Area 3

Area 3 is comprised of three divisions - St. Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon – which, collectively have 34 stations. The awards ceremony for the TOPS Competition was held Friday, November 25 at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville, Manchester as part of observations for Police Week 2022.

2022 Winners for Area 3:

Transforming Our Police Service (TOPS) Competition – Area 4

Area 4 is comprised of five divisions - St. Andrew Central, St. Andrew South, Kingston Eastern. Kingston Central and Kingston Western – which, collectively have 31 stations. The awards ceremony for the TOPS Competition was held virtually on Thursday, November 25 at the Office of the Police Commissioner, Old Hope Road in Kingston, as part of observations for Police Week 2021.

2021 Winners for Area 4

Transforming Our Police Service (TOPS) Competition – Area 5

Area 5 is comprised of four divisions - St. Catherine North, St. Catherine South, St. Thomas and St. Andrew North – which collectively have 39 stations. The awards ceremony for the TOPS Competition was held virtually on Wednesday, November 25 at the Office of the Police Commissioner, 101-105 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6, as part of observations for Police Week 2020.

2020 Winners for Area 5

Transforming Our Police Service (TOPS) Competition – Area 2

Area 2 is comprised of three divisions - Portland, St. Mary and St. Ann – which collectively have 31 stations. The awards ceremony for the TOPS Competition was held on Thursday, November 27 at the Couples Sans Souci All Inclusive in St. Mary as part of observations for Police Week 2019.
