PCOA TEAM TO UNDERTAKE AN INSPECTION OF THE PORTS DIVISION 

The PCOA Team will undertake a thematic inspection of the Ports Division from February 11 to 18. This is the last division under the JCF Border Branch portfolio that will to be inspected by the team.                                                                                                

The Port Division is one of the divisions under the JCF Border Branch portfolio charged with the responsibility to protect our points of entry.  This division has five locations – Norman Manley International Airport (the Headquarters); Sangsters International Airport (St. James); the Ian Fleming International Airport (St. Mary); Newport West Station (Kingston) and Freeport Post (St. James). All have the responsibility for patrolling and securing the shipping ports in Kingston and Montego Bay and its immediate environs, 

According to Senior Director, Inspections and Monitoring, Andrew Beaumont, the main objective of the thematic inspection is to assess the various administrative practices and their compliance with JCF policies”.   

“We aim to identify any weaknesses and deficiencies that may prevail and propose recommendations to address same,” Mr. Beaumont further explained. 

Prior to this inspection, the PCOA Team inspected the Marine Division (2023) and the Canine Division (2024, which form part of the JCF Border Branch portfolio.
