Police awarded for excellence at Oversight ceremony

The Cardiff Hotel in Runaway Bay, St Ann, recently hosted the Annual Police Civilian Oversight Authority Awards, a prestigious event that recognised outstanding service and accountability within the police force.

Held under the theme ‘Transforming Our Police Service’, the ceremony celebrated divisions across Jamaica that excelled in customer service, records-keeping, and accountability.

The St Mary Police Division took home the Top Division Award for Area Two, with special recognition awarded to the Oracabessa Police Station as the Best Prisoner In Custody Station.

Additionally, Castleton Police Station was honoured as the Top Police Station in Area Two, praised for its unwavering dedication to professionalism and service excellence.

In her address, Jacqueline Hinkson, Chair of the Police Oversight Authority, commended the awardees and highlighted the importance of strong community relationships. She encouraged them to continue their commitment to building a safer and more efficient police service for Jamaica.

The awardees were presented with individual gift baskets, plaques, and certificates.

Castleton Police Station received a cheque valued at $200,000 in recognition of their top position and exceptional standards of service.
