Customer Service Satisfaction Survey Launched in Area 4 Police Division

The Police Civilian Oversight Authority (PCOA) has launched an online customer service satisfaction survey in the Area 4 Police Division.

Area 4 comprises stations in the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew, specifically Kingston Western, Kingston Eastern, Kingston Central, St. Andrew South and St. Andrew Central.

The survey, which was developed in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation, Research and Data Branch of the Ministry of National Security, is a  component of the PCOA Transforming Our Police Service (TOPS) competition.

Developed in 2019, the TOPS programme is aimed at fostering greater conformance with prescribed Jamaica Constabulary Force policies as well as raising morale among police personnel.

The competition also facilitates a broader objective of the PCOA to enhance the culture of policing in the community and, by extension, its business community, through professionalism and police partnerships built on openness, trust and accountability.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PCOA, Otarah Byfield-Nugent, said the online survey will complement the one conducted in the field by the PCOA Inspection and Monitoring Unit.

Mrs. Byfield-Nugent told JIS News that the aim of the survey is to involve more persons in the process of determining the Top Customer Service Award in Area 4.

“As you would appreciate, different stations are responsible for different districts and localities, and so when we go to visit a station you won’t get to interact with everyone who lives at farther locations who use the stations.  We are trying to use the online survey to have a greater connection and appreciation for persons who do not necessarily live close to the police stations, but they still get service from them,” she  said.

Mrs. Byfield-Nugent noted that the PCOA is working with the Social Development Commission (SDC) to compile email addresses and telephone numbers of persons who are served by the Area 4 division.

“The SDC is getting the email addresses and numbers from persons in various districts, so that the online platform will be available to those persons who are not captured in the surveys that we do face to face. The link to the survey will be sent through emails and WhatsApp messages and we are hoping to have the link to the survey placed on the website of the Ministry of National Security,” she said.

The station that wins the customer satisfaction survey will be announced in November during Police Week.

The PCOA is charged with monitoring and implementing policy relating to the Jamaica Constabulary Force and its auxiliary. It conducts inspections, monitors the management and use of financial and other resources of the JCF and its auxiliary, as well as monitors their standard of performance to ensure that internationally accepted standards of policing are maintained.
